The objective of the Music Parents Association is to promote the educational and musical programs of the Indian Hills High School Music department and the student participants. The Indian Hills Music programs include the Choir, the jazz Band, the Orchestra, the Marching Band.

We do this by volunteering our time and by raising funds for recognition, activities and facility improvements to supplement those the school district provides. For example, the Music Parents Association:

• Administers the annual awards for participants in the music programs
• Provides scholarships for worthy students
• Donates gifts to the school as appropriate
• Supports other student activities

We conduct monthly meetings to update the members on our progress toward meeting the organization's annual priorities. Most of our additional communication to the membership is via e-mail.

• Dedication of the IHHS Auditorium:
  On May 17 Mr. Evangelista presided over the dedication of the Indian Hills "Performing Arts Center," previously known as the auditorium. The evening featured a joint Choral Recital and a Band Concert plus piano performances by two Indian Hill musicians. The program began with a piano prelude by Ashley Guthrie on our brand new grand piano. The piano was made possible by the generous donations of the Vartabedian family and others. There was a ribbon cutting ceremony to dedicate the renovated auditorium with representatives of the Board of Education and the mayors of the FLOW area towns. The Indian Hills Chorus, under the guidance of Mr. Jeffrey Hoffman, with music from Broadway and the movies to madrigals and a spiritual. Mr. Kevin DeFreest conducted the complete Indian Hills band with four rousing pieces. They were both awesome. After recognizing the seniors who have participated in the Indian Hill music programs, Elizabeth Wentworth performed the piano postlude.

  It was an exciting evening to see wonderfully restored "performing arts center" in action again. This will be just the beginning of the use of this venue for other Indian Hills performances.
