Dear Parents/Guardians of Ramapo
Indian Hills Juniors and Seniors:
Under the federal No Child
Left Behind (NCLB) Act, public high schools must give the names,
addresses and telephone numbers of students to military recruiters,
college/university recruiters and prospective employers if the recruiters
request the information (P.L. 107-110, Section 9528;10USC 503). However, students or their parents have
the right to instruct the school in writing that this information is not to be
released.
FALL ATHLETIC FORMS DUE TO THE NURSE JULY 26, 2010. Please make sure all forms are filled out completely, signed and dated by parent and physician where required. ALL forms are to be given to the nurse only. NO coaches are to collect forms. Any incomplete form will be returned to you. Physical
Education attire is required – tee shirt or sweat shirt, shorts or sweat pants.
Sleeveless shirts are unacceptable and will result in an unprepared being
assigned. Please note due to the terrain and nature of the activity, students
participating in the Ropes Course, will be given guidelines for attire by their
activity teacher. All students must wear sneakers. The following footwear is
NOT acceptable: Sneakers with a heel, open toe shoes, flip-flops or sandals of
any type.
Being
unprepared for class will lower the student’s Physical Education grade: A total
of 6 unprepared marks in a marking period will result in a grade of F for that
marking period. If a student accumulates a total of 12 unprepared marks during
the school year, that student will fail PE for the year and will be required to
attend summer school.
All
students are to be on time to Physical Education class. When a student is tardy
to class a 1/2 unprepared will be assigned.
All
passes to excuse a student from class (Guidance, TNT, Student Council, etc)
must be presented by the student to the activity teacher PRIOR to going to the
appointment. If a student fails to present the note prior to their appointment,
an unexcused absence will be noted.
Attendance
will be taken in the gymnasium closest to the activity or field. Students will
change in the locker room that applies.
Students
are to remain outside when traveling to and from fields and courts. Passing
thru the building is not permitted.
Notes
from parents excusing students from PE are only valid for a one to three day
excuse. Notes are to be taken to the school nurse, signed and documented. IF
EXCUSED by a parent, students are still required to change for PE class.
If
a student is going to miss Physical Education for more than three days, the
student must present a note from a medical doctor to the school nurse. The
student will then be assigned to a study hall. (Exception Grade 9 student – Mk.
Pd. # 1 – Will remain with their class if they are medically excused)
Grading
in Physical Education is determined by participation, preparation, and
sportsmanship.
Students are to remain on the gymnasium
floor at the end of class and after the designated changing time. Students are
not permitted to wait in the hallway. Detention will be assigned to students
who leave the gymnasium early.
Fitness Center Rules
Horseplay,
abusive behavior, and foul and/or abusive language are prohibited.
No food or drink
allowed in the weight room.
All
weights/dumbbells must be re-racked when you are done with them.
Wipe down benches
and equipment after use.
Use equipment

If you are not
sure about an exercise, ask for assistance.
Always have a
spotter.
Proper attire is
required at all times. Appropriate
footwear (athletic sneakers) must be worn. Boots, “slides”, and open-toed shoes are not permitted. Shirts must be worn at all time.
After school you
are here to exercise, not to socialize.
If you are done with your workout and you have a ride home, please
leave.
Do not bring personal belongings here;
lock them up in the locker room.
FAILURE TO FOLLOW
THESE GUIDELINES WILL RESULT IN LOSS OF FITNESS CENTER PRIVILEGES AND/OR LOSS
OF CREDIT IN PE.
