Superintendent Search Process
At its public meeting on March 22, the Ramapo Indian Hills Board of Education appointed Hazard Young & Associates (HYA) to lead the search for a permanent Superintendent of Schools. HYA has interviewed or is in the process of interviewing various constituent groups including certified staff, supervisors, administrators, leaders of the various bargaining groups, students and student council members, as well as board members, mayors and councils, administrators from the K-8 sending disricts. More information about HYA can be found here

Job Posting / Announcement
The Board of Education is seeking highly qualified candidates for the position of superintendent of schools to commence on or around September 1, 2021. This initial announcement will be supplemented by a Leadership Profile that will consist of expected characteristics, required qualifications, and experience. The Leadership Profile is being developed by the Board for posting on or about April 27, 2021.
Minimally, applicants must have multiple-year, successful, executive-level, educational leadership experience in a district of comparable size and scope. Experience in communities with similar educational values and expectations is highly desirable. Candidates must possess a New Jersey School Administrator Certificate or be immediately eligible to obtain the same. A multi-year contract will be offered with a salary in the range of $220,000 per annum subject to negotiation based on qualifications and experience.

Opportunities for Stakeholder Input

The Board is seeking community input through interviews, focus groups, and a virtual town hall meeting, to be hosted by HYA, scheduled following the spring break. The firm is also utilizing a research-based community survey that is designed to gather your perceptions of the school district and the importance of various characteristics found in effective school leaders. This information will be used to determine the desired characteristics of the next superintendent.
