Ramapo Indian Hills Community Welcomes the Stanley Cup

The Ramapo Indian Hills (RIH) community experienced an unforgettable moment when hockey fans welcomed the Stanley Cup to Ramapo High School on July 15.

Sunny Mehta, assistant general manager and head of analytics for the Florida Panthers, proudly shared the Stanley Cup with the community. A Wyckoff native and proud Ramapo High School hockey alumnus, Mehta celebrated this achievement with his hometown, having the honor of hosting the Cup for the day.

Michael McLachlan, head hockey coach at Ramapo High School, introduced Mehta during a special ceremony and Q&A session. Afterwards, the public had the opportunity to take photos with the coveted cup.

"This was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for our hockey program, including active and former players and community members. We are extremely grateful that Mr. Mehta was so generous with his time and willing to share this momentous experience with us. His story is truly inspiring and we are incredibly proud of Sunny Mehta and his accomplishments. He is a true inspiration to us all," said Ramapo High School Principal Travis Smith.

Last month, the Florida Panthers defeated the Edmonton Oilers in Game 7 of their series to clinch the Stanley Cup. Following their victory, Panthers players and executives embarked on a tour with the Cup, a cherished tradition for the winning team.

As a proud RIH alumnus, Mehta shared well-earned wisdom with the students: "If you dream big, you never know what's possible."

The RIH community was thrilled to celebrate this monumental achievement with one of their own, making it a day to remember, Smith added.
