Ramapo Indian Hills DECA Winners

I am very excited to report on Ramapo-Indian Hills DECA's success at the 2018 DECA International Career Development Conference in Atlanta, Georgia. More than 21,000 students, advisors, and chaperones were in attendance from all 50 states, 2 Canadian provinces, and 8 other countries. This year our chapter had a record-breaking 42 students attend the conference.

More than 215,000 high school students originally competed on the regional and state/provincial levels in 55 competitive events. Here are our results:

Indian Hills senior Danny Breslow finished 1st Place Overall in the world in the Quick Serve Restaurant Management Individual Series event. He was also recognized with two Instructional Area Awards and will be given a $1,000 scholarship award. He is the first student from Indian Hills to finish in the Top 3 at ICDC, the first student from Ramapo-Indian Hills to finish in the Top 3 since 2010, and one of only two students from New Jersey to take first place in an event.

Indian Hills freshmen Sabina Taneja and Priya Rai finished in the Top 10 in the world in the Start-Up Business Plan written event – these are the first freshman to ever win at this international event.

Indian Hills senior Gillian Guss finished as a Top 20 Finalist in the Business Services Marketing Individual Series event. She was also recognized with one Instructional Area Award.

Ramapo sophomores Jonathan Grossman and Jack Gifford finished as Top 20 Finalists in the Travel and Tourism Team Decision Making event.

Our two members of the New Jersey DECA State Officer Action Team, Danny Breslow and Indian Hills junior Stella Bayiokos, had the honor of being selected as Voting Delegates to elect the next North Atlantic Region Vice President and Executive President of the DECA Inc. High School Division.

Additionally, Ramapo-Indian Hills DECA was recognized by DECA Inc. Executive Director Lou DiGioia and New Jersey DECA Executive Director Jeffrey Victor as the largest chapter in New Jersey with over 360 members.

This is the most recognition Ramapo-Indian Hills has ever received at the International Career Development Conference. I am so incredibly proud and continually impressed by all of our participants and winners. I have great confidence that our success will only continue to grow in the future.
