Important PSAT/NMSQT and School Day Info

Dear Parents / Guardians,

On Wednesday, October 14th, both Ramapo and Indian Hills High Schools will administer the PSAT/NMSQT.  Only students taking the PSAT/NMSQT should arrive at the school building.  Transportation to and from testing is the responsibility of the parent / guardian.  All test takers need to arrive at school no later than 7:35 AM with a signed paper copy of the PSAT/NMSQT COVID-19 Student Screening Form, dated October 14, 2020.

All other students will participate in the asynchronous virtual learning day (B-day) from home.  All students are required to sign into their classes via Schoology or Google Classroom and complete / submit assignments assigned by their teachers for the day.  These assignments can include (but are not limited to) watching a pre-recorded lesson / screencast and completing an assignment (flipped classroom approach), completing self-paced learning assignments in Schoology, participating in class discussion boards / threaded-discussions, completing a simulation or virtual lab activity, etc.  Teachers will post a Zoom link for an “office hour” in the afternoon for students to ask questions and receive extra help.  Students who are testing in the morning will complete the remainder of their asynchronous virtual learning day at home after testing, and are expected to make-up any missed work in a timely manner.  Please have the student coordinate any make-up work and / or needed accommodations with the classroom teacher.

For all students registered to take the PSAT/NMSQT on Wednesday, October 14th, it is VERY IMPORTANT that you review the information below prior to testing:

  • Students must be in their testing room no later than 7:35am.  Late students may forfeit their ability to test.
  • Student room assignments will be posted to Schoology prior to testing.
  • Students MUST bring a photo ID with them to testing.
  • Students are responsible for bringing their own pencils and a working calculator.  These materials can not be provided to or shared between students.
  • Students MUST print, complete, and sign the attached PSAT/NMSQT COVID-19 Student Screening Form for entrance into the building.  If a student does not have their screening form, they will not be permitted to enter the high school.
  • Due to COVID-19 restrictions, students cannot bring food or water to testing.
  • Students should ensure they are well rested before testing, make time to eat breakfast the morning of the test, and arrive at school on time and dressed comfortably.
  • Students will be dismissed at the conclusion of testing and will be required to exit the school building immediately.

Please review the above information, and if needed, create reminders for yourself so that you are best prepared for testing day.  If you have any questions about testing, please contact the guidance office.

We wish you the best of luck on your PSAT/NMSQT.

Regards,

Daniel W. Sutherland
