New Jersey Student Learning Assessment in Science (NJSLA-S)

Dear Ramapo and Indian Hills High School Parents/Guardians:

On May 21 and 22, 2018 all Grade 11 studentsat Ramapo and Indian Hills High Schools are required, by the New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE), to take the New Jersey Student Learning Assessment in Science (NJSLA-S). All high schools in New Jersey are required to have a 95% student participation rate for this assessment, as noted under the ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) federal law.  Make-ups will be arranged through each building’s schedule through June 8, 2018. It is most importantthat our students participate and provide their best effort on this assessment.  Please see the District’s assessment webpagefor more information about the NJ SLA-S.  

All Grade 11 studentsare required to take this assessment on May 21 and 22 and should be in school at the regular start time each day of testing and report directly to their assigned rooms for the test administration. Room assignments will be posted prior to May 21 at both high schools. 

*Those students who are not involved in testing (Grades 9, 10, & 12) will have a delayed arrival to school for each of the test administration days (May 21 & 22).Transportation: A second run of bus routes will take place on each day of testingfor delayed arrival students who are normally bused to school. Those students should be at their regular bus stops according to the schedule below (the same for both days):

May 21  –   3 hours after the regular bus pick up time

May 22  –  3 hours after the regular bus pick up time
