No One is Alone

Act 1 features music & scenes that focus on feelings of isolation, and the solitude that first draws many people to the theater world. When we feel lonely or ostracized, sometimes it’s easier to draw into ourselves rather than look outwards for help. This issue becomes more common each year as rates of depression and anxiety crawl upwards for students.

Act 2 centers around the acceptance and sense of confidence that students can feel in a theater group. The tight-knit community that comes from performing together can lift each other up and provide an escape for kids, many with no other place to go. Especially considering how progressive theater circles have always been, those who feel different can find themselves under the wing of others. Seeing our struggles reflected through the lense of the stage can be both affirming and inspiring. It can help those who feel separate or unusual change their mindset to being unique and individual.

Maybe that need for community and performance seems odd to some of you. For many, however, it’s the thing that keeps us going throughout the day, the thing that makes us feel understood in our own skin. Our theme conveys that NO ONE should ever feel alone.
